Responsible Gaming
OBSERVE: Gambling is a form of entertainment that carries financial and psychological risks. EXPAND: Responsible gaming means planning your play, setting limits, and seeking support early if risk signs appear. It is not a path to income. REFLECT: sportium-bet, operating via sportium-bet-ca.com, provides tools, information, and access to professional help so you can make informed choices and pause or stop whenever needed. If you are under the legal gambling age in your province/territory (18 or 19 in Canada), do not use our services. We will support you with practical protections and confidential assistance.
Risk Awareness
OBSERVE: Problem gambling often develops gradually and can be hard to notice early. EXPAND: Recognizing markers of harm lets you act before losses or stress escalate. REFLECT: Use the checklist below and reach out if several items apply to you.
Common warning signs
- Increasing bet frequency or stakes, chasing losses, or playing longer than planned
 - Thinking about betting when not playing; feeling irritable or restless when trying to cut down
 - Hiding play from family/friends; borrowing money or selling items to fund gambling
 - Missing work/studies, sleep problems, or anxiety linked to gambling outcomes
 - Using gambling to escape stress, depression, or other problems

Quick self-assessment (answer Yes/No)
- I often spend more money or time gambling than I intended.
 - I have tried and failed to reduce or stop gambling.
 - I gamble to cope with stress, loneliness, or financial problems.
 - I have lied to loved ones about how much I gamble.
 - I have borrowed money, used credit, or missed bills because of gambling.

If you answered "Yes" to two or more, consider taking an immediate break, setting stricter limits, and contacting a professional support service listed below.
Limits & Tools
OBSERVE: Limits reduce risk by constraining spend and time. EXPAND: Deposit caps and session controls are most effective when set before you play. REFLECT: You can change limits anytime; tighter limits apply immediately, increases apply after a cooling-off period.
Deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Go to My Account > Responsible Gaming > Deposit Limits.
 - Choose a period: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
 - Enter a CAD amount that fits your discretionary budget (examples: Daily CA$50, Weekly CA$150, Monthly CA$600). Only set limits you can afford to lose.
 - Click Save. Reductions take effect immediately. Any increase is subject to a minimum 24-hour cooling-off confirmation.

Time spent controls (session timers)
- Open My Account > Responsible Gaming > Time Limits.
 - Set a session reminder (e.g., 30, 45, 60 minutes). You will receive an on-screen alert with the option to log out.

Short "Time-Out" breaks (24-72 hours)
- Navigate to My Account > Responsible Gaming > Time-Out.
 - Select a duration: 24h, 48h, or 72h.
 - Confirm your choice. You will be logged out and cannot deposit or bet during the Time-Out.
 - Time-Outs end automatically; you may log back in after the period expires.

Regional compliance note (CA): Legal gambling age varies by province/territory (18 or 19). Do not gamble if you are under the legal age where you reside.
Self-Exclusion
OBSERVE: When gambling is harming your wellbeing or finances, a stronger barrier may be required. EXPAND: Self-exclusion blocks access to your account for a chosen period and disables marketing. REFLECT: It is confidential and can be combined with device/site blocking tools for added protection.
How to self-exclude (temporary 6-60 months or lifetime)
- Go to My Account > Responsible Gaming > Self-Exclusion.
 - Select a duration: 6, 12, 24, 36, 60 months, or Lifetime.
 - Read the consequences summary, tick the confirmation boxes, and click Confirm.
 - You will receive on-screen and email confirmation of the start and end date (except lifetime).

Consequences and financial treatment
- Access: You cannot log in, deposit, bet, or open a new account during exclusion. Marketing communications stop as soon as practicable.
 - Balance: Real-money balances remain withdrawable upon verified request via Support; promotional/bonus funds are forfeited.
 - Open bets: Settled per the rules; any returns are paid to your registered payment method. No new bets can be placed.
 - Early reactivation: Not permitted. After a fixed-term exclusion ends, reactivation (if available) requires an active request and a cooling-off period; for lifetime, the account remains closed.

Support for exclusions: If you need assistance with self-exclusion or withdrawals while excluded, contact our Responsible Gaming team using the form in the Contact & Feedback section below.
Ontario note: sportium-bet is not licensed by AGCO/iGO. Ontario residents should use provincially regulated operators and may enroll in My PlayBreak (Ontario's self-exclusion program) via the iGO portal.

Help for Family
OBSERVE: Loved ones may notice harm before the person does. EXPAND: Non-judgmental conversations and boundaries help engagement. REFLECT: Combine empathy with practical next steps.
How to start the conversation
- Choose a calm, private time; use "I" statements: "I'm worried because I've noticed ..."
 - Focus on impacts (stress, finances) rather than blame; avoid arguing about past losses.
 - Offer options: taking a Time-Out, setting limits, or speaking to a counselor together.

Get support for yourself
- Contact provincial helplines (see above) and ask for "affected others" services.
 - Join Gam-Anon groups (gam-anon.org) or peer forums for families.
 - If safety, coercion, or debt is present, seek legal/financial advice and crisis help via 988 or 911.

Next steps
- Encourage a professional assessment and consider joint budgeting or debt advice.
 - Help them implement self-exclusion and install blocking software on shared devices.
 - Set clear boundaries (no loans, shared passwords protected) while staying supportive.
